ANAP – Théâtre du Loup, 1+2 may 2020, Geneva (postponed for April 2021)

Contemporary motherhood, national policy and scientific futurism. An experiment with forms of immersive theatre and live roleplaying.

The project will be aided by the participation of actors, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts impersonating mothers, babies, nurses, doctors etc. Participants will undergo certain processes: A series of tasks and protocols that inform the labor of contemporary motherhood. Players will investigate how ideologies and practices of bettering, fertility and biometric monitoring condition the millennial biopolitics of birth.

Additionally, the project will reflect on current social policies in “tout va bien” Switzerland and in “post-crisis” Greece, as a new rhetoric propagates a state-funded baby-boom to assist the recovery of the “battered middle-class.”

An immersive theatre performance will be presented in Théâtre du Loup in Geneva on the 1st and 2d of mai 2020 and a filmic and material constellation of it will be presented in 2020 in Athens.
