Karmaway – Network Marketing

Karmaway” (2006), a simulation of a medical company, which sells its health products through a pyramid system that, turns clients into company mercenaries. Karmaway is a typical example of “network marketing.” In the opening of the exhibition the visitors were offered a placebo pill that “cures anxiety”. Then, they were invited to discuss with the company’s employees who tried to convert them and persuade them to start promoting and selling the company’s products to their friends or colleagues in order to receive bonuses and climb up the company’s hierarchy.
