The “nocturnal assembly” is a bizarre and dark re-enactment of a general assembly, just as those of contemporary social movements such as the indignados and the Occupy.

By drawing upon actual debates from the Syntagma square of Athens, the film will try to depict the conflict between the subjective-deflated desire to participate, the personal stimulation in a condition of precarious everydayness, and the collective desire of a movement, the collective identifications, usually overdetermined and interpellated by the prevailing ideologies of the nation, the people, the motherland etc.

The project interrogates the overt ethno-populism of the greek indignados, and also the hysterical quest for bodily immediacy and immediate democracy.

With the support of Utopiana residency for artists, run by Anna Barseghian and Stephan Kristensen in Geneva, part of the exhibition: DÉSIRS SANS DESTIN, Theater of Saint Gervais.

Το βίντεο «Η νυκτερινή συνέλευση» γυρίστηκε σε σκηνή του St Gervais Theatre κατά τη διάρκεια της παραμονής του Κωστή Σταφυλάκη στο Residency Utopiana, στη Γενεύη. Σε έναν απροσδιόριστο σκοτεινό χώρο, ένας συντονιστής ανακρίνει τους συνεργάτες του. Με κλειστά τα μάτια, τα μέλη αυτής της περίεργης «ομάδας εργασίας» αναπτύσσουν μεταξύ τους ιδιαίτερους κώδικες επικοινωνίας. Τα λόγια που ανταλλάσουν είναι φράσεις που αντλήθηκαν από πρακτικά δημόσιων συνελεύσεων των αγανακτισμένων του Συντάγματος. Στο τέλος της πλοκής, μια μυστηριώδης γυναικεία φιγούρα τραγουδά έναν από τους «ύμνους των αγανακτισμένων».
